Wordpress 2.0 Has Arrived

It's here. After so long. It has finally arrived.

Wordpress 2.0 is finally here…and I had to spend the entire night awake at the channel just to wait for the release to be announced. If that isn't geek enough, I don't know what is.

Now take note, Matt has changed the site of Wordpress.org to be a little more updated than before but the changes are still not completed. Don't be confused with the links or the fact that it says the latest version is still "Strayhorn" which was the codename for Wordpress 1.5+

The downloads are in fact the final version of Wordpress 2.0. So what are you waiting for? We spent a shitload of time on it. Let's see how it goes.

Note: Before running the upgrade to Wordpress 2.0, it is advisable that you read this article a while back.

If I used Fantastisco to install my WordPress 1.5.2, is it okay if I manually do the upgrade? Will it effect “some” files created by Fantastisco?

Jason, I can’t speak for Edrei, but my suggestion is to hold off upgrading to 2.0 since you didn’t manually install 1.5.2. Best thing to do is to contact your webhost and ask them to upgrade it. However, it’s still a good idea to backup your database and files before you do anything.

Well I don’t even recomend using Fantastico to install Wordpress because you won’t have full control over your Wordpress DB or know where everything would go. The best is to follow the installation via the codex and then upgrade normally from there.

But yeah, use Skippy’s Wordpress Backup Plugin to backup your Wordpress DB first before you do anything. Maybe you can contact me and we’ll see what we can work out from there.
